Scott Star was born and raised in Chatsworth, California before leaving to attend San Diego State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1995. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in December of 1998. While in law school, he completed an externship with the Van Nuys Superior Court Law and Motion Department.
Mr. Star got his beginning in workers’ compensation on the applicant side while he was still in law school, spending three years working for an attorney who specialized in workers’ compensation and employment law. In 1999, he went to work for a large defense firm which handled subrogation and workers’ compensation defense before joining Bradford & Barthel in 2003. He became a Partner in 2011.
Mr. Star’s work with Bradford & Barthel involves the handling of subrogation matters as well as the defense of workers’ compensation claims, Serious & Willful and 132a actions. He has handled civil jury trials, mediations and arbitrations, as well as hearings and trials before the WCAB.
Mr. Star worked in our San Diego office for 10 years, he subsequently transitioned to our Ventura office and in 2016 he became a member of the Woodland Hills office.
Mr. Star married his wife, Vanita, in 2002. He has two daughters, Gwen and Malina. When not spending time with his family, Mr. Star enjoys playing golf and following sports.
