James Zhou has been licensed to practice law since 1999. Before coming into the workers' compensation defense arena, he gained extensive experience in various other areas of law including personal injury, family law, criminal defense, bankruptcy and unlawful detainers. He started his career working for a law firm and was also a member of the Indigent Defense Panel in Victorville. He then started his own firm in various iterations that focused on family law, criminal defense and bankruptcy. As a result of this vast experience in different areas, Mr. Zhou has extensive experience in the courtroom as well outside the courtroom with discovery, depositions, arbitrations and mediations. All of this eclectic experience informs his thoughts and actions and greatly enhances his ability to defend his clients in the workers' compensation area.
Mr. Zhou graduated from UCLA in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics/Business. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1998 after attending the University of San Diego School of Law in 1995-1996.
In his spare time, Mr. Zhou enjoys hiking, nature, and has a passion for UCLA football and basketball.
