professional bio
David Stewart’s sole professional focus is the defense of insurance carriers, third party administrators, and large self-insureds. He defends his clients in all aspects of California workers’ compensation, including cases-in-chief, Labor Code 132 claims, and Labor Code 4553 Serious & Willful allegations. Whether at the WCAB for a trial or taking an applicant's or doctor's deposition, Mr. Stewart demonstrates his commitment to client service and aggressive representation of their interests. His skills and abilities in that regard have been sharpened by his nearly three decade legal career.
In addition to his invaluable experience in workers’ compensation, David brings with him demonstrated expertise in financial services, particularly in areas of banking, institutional asset management, retail brokerage and investment advisory services. He understands the unique concerns of employers in California, having owned and operated a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm for 15 years. This extensive experience taught him the importance of exceptional customer service via timely, effective communication and a deep understanding of clients’ needs and goals. This approach allows him to work in tandem with the adjuster as a team.
While in law school, Mr. Stewart worked for the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office where he honed his competitive, client-centric mindset by representing the People of the State of California and the County of Shasta in Superior Court. This experience was instrumental in developing the robust litigation skills necessary to vigorously defend his clients in the complex world of workers' compensation. While at the District Attorney’s office, Mr. Stewart’s strategic expertise provided him the unique opportunity to obtain bench and jury trial experience in misdemeanor and felony matters, conduct numerous preliminary hearings, and argue countless motions. Given his reputation as always ready to got to trial, opponents are more likely to see the wisdom in accepting his economical settlement proposals.

Outside of the office, Mr. Stewart lives in Redding with his wife, Julie.
