As a member of Bradford & Barthel’s Oakland office, Margaret “Maggie” Barber’s primary area of practice is Workers' Compensation defense. Being praised for her commitment and ability to remain composed in the face of chaos, Maggie brings with her many years of a broad range of experience as an attorney.
Maggie attended the University of California, Sonoma, where she graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Her college internship at the Sonoma County Public Defender’s Office instilled in her the significance of having knowledgeable and meaningful legal representation.
Maggie received her Juris Doctorate from Cal Northern School of Law, where she graduated as class valedictorian in 2009. During her law school career, Maggie was active in the Student Bar Association and was a school librarian. She earned the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Contracts, Evidence, Trusts, Real Property, Civil Procedure, Professional Responsibility, Remedies, and Criminal Procedure. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in December of 2009.
Prior to joining Bradford & Barthel, Maggie worked as a Deputy District Attorney in the Financial Crimes Unit. Maggie has spent the majority of her career practicing in non-profit organizations, where she has assisted hundreds of low income and vulnerable clients obtain civil orders of protection, child custody orders, and fighting for housing rights. Maggie is proud to be a certified domestic violence counselor and completed a national accreditation in crime victim advocacy.
Having acquired expertise in Workers’ Compensation defense early in her career, Maggie was thrilled to have the opportunity to return to the field and join Bradford & Barthel.
In her free time, Maggie enjoys hiking with her camera-in-hand, as well as spending time with her family and friends.
