David Roman began his workers’ compensation career as a file clerk in 1989, but was elevated to hearing representative and rating analyst on completion of certified workers' compensation training in 1990 as educated by former WCAB Judge/Commissioner Mark Kahn and DEU Rating Analyst Shirley James. Until November 2024, David continuously worked in dual roles as representative at WCAB district offices, appearing at 400-500 WCAB hearings per year while also acting as primary rater on cases involving law enforcement officer claims.
David has received additional training throughout his career in legal seminars and continuing education courses focused on permanent disability rating, provided convincing and effective challenges and rebuttal to disputed consultative ratings from the WCAB Disability Evaluation Unit, regularly negotiated case resolutions based on his analyses, and served as witness at several trials that involved rating issues.
In his off work time, David is an accomplished musician, vocalist, pianist, songwriter and recording artist. “Music is math, and math is music, art and science combined.”
