La Jetta Wright has always been achievement oriented, focused, and never one to avoid a challenge. Immediately after high school, Ms. Wright entered the U.S. Navy where she completed Air Traffic Controller training and oversaw aerial operations that involved classified communications throughout the Pacific Region. Following her career in the Navy, Ms. Wright moved into the field of workers’ compensation, where she has remained. Ms. Wright’s career in workers’ compensation began with a position as a claims adjuster for SCIF, and she used this knowledge later as an Information and Assistance Office for the State of California at the Long Beach WCAB. With this background and a strong sense of “justice” and desire to create a balance in the system, Ms. Wright entered law school. Completing her undergraduate degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills, in 1996, Ms. Wright entered law school and graduated from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law in 1999 with her law degree. She then moved into the defense side of workers’ compensation where she has remained. Achievements in her career include serving as a State Bar of California Workers’ Compensation Board Member in 2003, working as a SCIF adjuster, an I&A Officer, and also teaching classes to claims adjusters in workers’ compensation. This included teaching classes of Introduction to workers’ compensation and advanced workers’ compensation through the Insurance Education Association (IEA). Teaching these classes to fellow adjusters helped Ms. Wright gain added insight into changes in the law, and its application, as well as exchanging information with the adjusters working in the field. La Jetta Wright is married with three children Katherine, Katelin, and Daniel Jr. |
